Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
So many odd things happened between my last post and now, I don't know how to start. Funny enough, the things are S*T-related.
Bad things first, I think. Halfangel, a member of Surreal*Twilight, died. Literally. Not in some freaking lame battle roleplay which he loves. He is so young, or should I be using "was"? I don't know. All I know is that I can't forget his avatar, and his emoticons, and how he's always so nice to everyone. And such a kind and committed Kindly Scholar. He's the most junior of them. He only joined this year. Why, that means he's only a member on S*T for 7 months. That's too short a time. His life's too short.
Now to tear away from this depression to what I had been very excited about before. It turns out Noia is actually Minu! She was quite a great friend of mine and I missed her a lot when she left, and now she says she wants to start over, 'cuz she hated her Minu persona or something. But no matter, she's back now. I can't believe fate let us roleplay together again. I was still kicking myself earlier on taking up roleplaying, and it turns out I'm RP'ing with an old friend I would otherwise not have known! And I can't believe she kept me in the dark for so long.
I was so jubilated only last night. But I can't bring myself to cheer up. I must SMS Kurobi later, he'll know what to say.

Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
Kurobi didn't react the way I thought he would. He just asked me what happened and all that and I told him it was a brain problem, I think. I wasn't scrutinising halfangel's condition so I told him I supposed it was a brain haemorrhage. Then he went "oh", and asked "will he recover?" and I practically shouted at him in the SMS (by using caps) "he DIED! Recover what?"
I was astounded that I didn't cry. I mean, I know I don't cry easily, but I think if I did cry, I would actually feel better, 'cuz right now I feel like heavy. Like, my tummy's sagging or something. And when our teacher conveniently asked us today "if you ever die, what do you want others to remember you by?" and I broke down, but I still didn't cry.
And DayDreamer can rest assured that I didn't tell Noia. I can't believe I didn't know it was her, even after these signs:
1. She mentioned in her intro thread she likes fantasy and battle roleplays. (like Minu)
2. She said she would love to roleplay with me, judging by what she saw in Completed Roleplays. (bet she was talking about Monster Busters!)
3. She told me "I will do my best!" when I said I'd started the roleplay. (that's what Minu said too!)
4. Her writing is similar to Minu's. (tenses a little weird at times)
But I did like Minu. I wonder why she doesn't, and wants to start anew.

Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
Forgot to mention, I checked the newly updated Physical Fitness Chart, and everything I thought I have D's for is actually an E now, but I didn't fail, thank goodness. I thought I would fail Inclined Pull-Ups or Standing Broad Jump, but I did 6 of the former and jumped 155 cm for the latter, both of which warrant an E. So I'll probably get the Bronze rank, which is the lowest rank short of a pass.
I don't feel like continuing my novel on Line By Line anymore. The last chapter that I put up didn't get a single critique, and the next chapter after that which I was supposed to post turned out to be so lousy that I feel so demoralised.

Ha, I like indirect mini-conversations. I just wish WaywithWords is around to have a three-tier mini-conversation. And yes, DayDreamer's encouragement spurs me on. I shall post my lousy chapter as soon as I can.
Except that it's going to be a busy time again. Prelim's on Friday, along with my O-Level English Oral, so I don't suppose I'll be allowed online for quite some time. Then there's O-Levels, the real thing, after that...Gah, I miss the Year-End holidays.
But next year, junior college starts on the 2nd of February, so I have about 2 months of hols! I shall be Kindly Scholar by that time! That's my goal!]
I actually have a lot more to say but they slipped my mind. Urgh. It's all these tests that cause it.

Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
This may well be the last journal post I'm posting here for a long time. Sigh.
We're starting prom preparations. The tentative date is on the 25th or 26th of November, after the O-Levels. I'm looking forward to the good food, and the idea that it'll be the last time I'm seeing my friends before we head off respectively to our new lives in junior college. I reckon, though, that what I'll be mostly doing at prom is eat, then maybe run off home to login to S*T or something, LOL.
Today's the voting for Prom King and Queen. We're going to round it off to 6 finalists for each gender. I think that's gross. I hate voting for things I find unimportant. I nulled my vote for Class Leader early this year by persistently keeping my hand under the table. Nobody noticed, I think. Either that, or they didn't care.
Wonder if DayDreamer ever attended prom.
But prom's still a long way away. I've got to settle Prelim and O-Levels first. Speaking of which, it's time to get some serious studying done.

Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
Ah, the woes of computer addiction! I was thinking today that since I only have one paper to take, I should have some time online, then I began thinking my great-aunt (whose son's laptop I usually use) would be nagging at me to study, and if I headed for the school library again, the librarian would wonder what I was doing there at curriculum time. She has already asked me once why I need the computer everyday, and I gave some vaguely lame excuse. I thought of the community library too, but students wearing school uniform and using the computers at 11 am, when they're supposed to be having lessons, sounds suspiciously like playing hooky. So in the end I decided the heck with it, I'm just going to act nonchalant when my great-aunt passes by the laptop area, and pretend to be reading or something.
The exams thus far have been pretty okay, but that's just because the subjects are comparatively easier than what's coming in the later days. Biology and Physics are killers.
I loved DayDay's last journal post. It cracked me up quite a bit, especially when he wrote about his encounters with the girls he liked. I do usually stammer a bit when talking to boys (all of them, pretty much, unless I know them well) and I'll start feeling angry that I'm speaking incoherently, and then end up snubbing/teasing/mocking at the poor fellows. They already know the full extent of Mabel's Pwnage, dealed without mercy if they ever dare cross my path.
That sounded cool. I made that part up. But I do feel very sorry for them sometimes when I tease. Then again, they enjoy laughing at each other, so I'm giving them a chance.
It's not very nice to laugh at DayDreamer, but I'm not as angelic as Syren Song or Neferteri or Hope, so I shall just go ahead.
I suppose Malgen Soyasu is a nice person to talk to, but he never fails to make me nervous. I suppose he's just too confident of everything (which is a good thing) that I feel awfully inferior. But he's very sweet.
And I must mention that I was appalled at how DayDreamer's words severely lacked proper spacing. The spelling errors are minimal, it's the spacing that irritates. Maybe he should press the Spacebar on his flexi-keyboard with more intensity. Like, push it harder, dude.

Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
I didn't want to add a post here at first, but after reading DayDee's post I felt I needed to say something.
DO NOT WATCH THE ANIME OF HERCULE POIROT AND MISS MARPLE. IT SUCKSSSSS!!!!! This is called anti-advertising, ha. But seriously, it's an insult to the series of books, which is very interesting indeed. The author is Agatha Christie, and I actually loved her books so much I made my 2 favourite characters' names (refer to Hercule Poirot and Arthur Hastings) become my username for virtually everything I joined. From Surreal*Twilight to TV.com to PokemonCrater to Neopets. When I became a little older, I realised that there are nicer books than these, but Agatha Christie remains my favourite author on the whole. And the Mabel part was made up in the anime, which SUCKSSSSS!!!!!
Actually, I haven't watched the anime, but Kurobi assured me that it sucked (another one of those anime fans that has watched every anime under the sun), and after reading the synopsis at the back of the VCD which I picked up at a CD store, I must say that I agree with him.
I don't understand why Japan must alter very good English books, written by very good British authors, into confounded moving pictures. I've nothing against original anime ideas, of course, like D.Gray-Man and Pokemon, but why fandom? They even took a popular Korean palace drama (don't know Korean, but it was dubbed into Mandarin and aired in Singapore and China, amongst many other countries) and anime-ified it. Don't know if Dayzee likes it.
I've a million and one nicknames for DayDreamer. Liked the last one best.
And Casino Royale isn't very nice either. I mean, I hate James Bond shows in general, but my mother, who is in love with Pierce Brosnan, was very much appalled by Daniel Craig. She says he is old, and blonde, and thin, and totally undignified. I think he's just very wrinkly. But I'm always influenced by Mother's words. For instance, she thinks Brendan Fraser is fat. And I suddenly realise that he's really kinda plump. Something like that.
Oh, and by the way, Kurobi says calling oneself in third-person usually denotes adorability. Like, there was a time when he was crazy about Rozen Maiden, so he kept calling himself Hina-chan. Now he's into Sailor Moon Live Action.
To all sane people out there, I assure you that I don't share his tastes.
Today's Prelim paper was Higher Chinese Composition and History. Both were puke-inducing. For the former, I had writer's block all the way. We were supposed to write a speech of at least 800 characters and a response to a newspaper article with a length of about 1400 characters. Anyway, I pulled and tugged at my essays to get to the required length, but only managed to cough up 1000 characters for the second question.
I think a major reason for my rigid writing, which was also apparent in my English Composition on Friday, is the colour of the ink. I've always been an ardent supporter of blue ink, but when my blue pen spoiled, I was forced to use a black pen for the Prelim, and somehow, looking at the black drains my energy.
History was even worse. I was hoping to get 75 and above for it so that my total Combined Humanities grade is an A1, but everything that I thought would be tested in the Structured-Essay Questions weren't, and I needed to rely on my memory to answer the questions. The Source-Based Questions were killers too. There was a Compare/Contrast question that also asked for reliability, which is a tedious thing to analyse, so I didn't. Anyway, to conclude, I'm dying. My A1 is gone. I bet my Social Studies can't salvage the situation even if I get full marks for it. Which I definitely won't.
Additional Mathematics tomorrow. Aurgh. I'm waking up at 5 am everyday just to study. That's so wrong. I'm supposed to wake at 6 am. Once Prelim and O-Levels are both over I shall sleep for as long as I want.

Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
I was just checking to see when I posted an entry last, and it's on Tuesday! Today's Sunday, so I haven't posted anything for 5 days. Which is also, coincidentally, DayDra's record. This new name sucks. It sounds like Dandruff.
I wasn't going to post anything today either, actually. But I had this weirdest dream last night and felt that I must include it here, 'cuz it involves the dear Day.
To keep him in suspense for a while, let me talk about Friday first, which was Teachers Day. The principal postponed our Prelim papers for that day so that we could show our appreciation for teachers and stuff. I didn't disappoint her, I brought five gifts which included door magnets, chopsticks and namecard holders. We also watched an interesting concert where this guy named Joel (Kurobi's friend- he has many friends) and his friends went up on stage and pretended to be a rock band and sang Reason (or whatever that song's called) but tweaked the lyrics to make it more Singlish and related to Teachers Day. But he sure had the air of a rock star. And 4F made a touching video thanking all their teachers, especially their form teacher, who is also our English teacher and a very nice lady (she gave me 28 out of 30 for two of my compositions, what can I say?). By the way, she told me that I had gotten a Distinction for my New South Wales competition for English Writing. And I totally exceeded the word limit, for goodness' sakes. But New South Wales competitions are "meh". Their math and science papers are chicken-feet easy.
We have a 1-week holiday now, right in-between our Prelim to facilitate better study. Pooh. I haven't been enjoying hols since March, during that measly one week. I'm going to let my hair down after O-Levels.
Oh, yesterday my mother, who still believes Daniel Craig is unbelievably wrinkly, and I watched a martial arts movie, called Long Hu Men (roughly translated to Dragon Tiger Gate, which certainly sounds more majestic in Chinese). I began wondering how Westerners would see it. The English subtitles are pretty badly done, for one. When a triad boss was telling somebody rather patiently to please go out for a while, the subtitles claimed that he said "Scram!". Mother and I had fun poking fun of the show. We poke fun at almost every show, in quite a cheesy way. For instance, this bad guy was releasing a gust of really strong wind and Mum would say "why's he farting?" and so on. I loved the part when the two heroes entered the baddie's den and began rolling on the ground, then flying in the air, when the baddie wasn't even around, and Mother was saying, "why are they rolling on the ground in such an undignified manner, when the bad guy isn't even home?"
I know, they're not funny after being translated into English. But I assure readers that they were quite humourous when we were watching the show.
Oh yes, now to the dream. It's actually very simple. I dreamed that everyone on S*T had come to Singapore, except DayDreamer. So I kept going around looking for him. That's it. Ha.

Re: Pen&Paper's Archive Of Completely Mundane Events
Big D has given me stuff to write about again. Sometimes replying to his post is much more fun than writing about my boring day.
First, I read his competition entry. I read all 5 of them actually, though I barely skimmed through AzureFenrir's one and so his entry didn't register in my head at all. The entries were all very long, so I cut corners and read the first few paragraphs then scrolled down to the last few paragraphs and I've gotten the gist of the whole story. DayDay's theme was actually quite good, about accepting death as it comes, but I must say Leo Jeric's writing style was probably the best. The abstract kind where readers actually don't know what the author's talking about and are impressed for the very same reason.
Lokichan's one tickled me, for some reason.
I went on S*T at 11 pm yesterday. That's a record, considering the latest time I've ever been on a computer is at about 9 pm. I'm usually an early morning computer person. During the holidays I'm online from 7.30 am to 11 am or thereabouts. But it's not the hols now, so everything's different.
My mother's asleep in the next room, thus giving me the chance to sneak up here again. I'm trying to type softly now cuz the keyboard's really loud. And I type with only my index fingers. Everybody laughs at me for not learning how to type properly, but I like my typing style. I can still memorise where all the keys are.
Damn, there's this thumping sound from outside the window. It's sure to wake Mother up, she's a light sleeper.
Second, I think we mean the same New South Wales competition. Don't ask me about the Writing, it was the first time I'd heard of it too. Maybe it's a new idea of theirs? Anyway I've been doing their papers since I was 9 or something. It's meant for fun and no one takes it seriously. And I had a Credit once, can't remember what for. And I got a High Distinction for English when I was 10, I think. It was so easy I finished everything in 10 minutes.
"Chicken-feet" is one of those Singlish terms we have here. No idea where that came about, but basically it has the same meaning as "as easy as ABC", only we shortened it, LOL. Just like how we say "Your Head" when we mean "Nonsense". There're too many to list. If you ever come to Singapore (and please do someday!), you'd be hearing all kinds of variations of the English Language. That's why people here always say Singaporeans are recognisable worldwide. Just listen out for sounds like "meh" (which is derived from Cantonese) and "lah" (a Chinese sound).
Most likely people like Noia, Echelon, Wstfgl, TimeDragon888, LoxSol and the other MUD-playing cronies of Echelon (that's what I call them) will know what I mean.
During the holidays I shall ask Noia out and see what she looks like.
And I shall also fly to Sydney and have a good look at DayDay. The only problem is that nobody wants to go there. My mother's been to Sydney and doesn't want to go again, and it's expensive. She's keen on exploring China instead. Maybe when I'm much older, I shall fly over. And DayDay will be balding and wearing dentures and develop wrinkles like Daniel Craig, and have many annoying grandchildren prancing around him. Ha, I can almost imagine it.
But he's only 3 years older than me, so I'll most probably not be any much different.
